On Nov. 4, Swifties across the globe were stunned by the news of Taylor Swift’s sixth tour. The tour is called “Eras” and will feature Swift’s new album “Midnights” which, she says, showcases thirteen sleepless nights throughout her life, as well as her previous hit songs.
The “Midnights” album dropped on October 21, 2022 and was quick to top the music charts. According to the LA Times, In its first twenty-four hours of public life, “Midnights” was streamed 185 million times worldwide, topping Bad Bunny’s previous record of 183 million streams for his album “Un Verano Sin Ti”. “Midnights” consists of 13 original songs and prompted Swift into becoming the first artist with only her music in the top ten streamed songs on the Billboard Hot 100. Her reaction to the news shows her dedication to music and her fans: “10 out of 10 of the Hot 100??? On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES,” she says in a post on her increasingly popularized Twitter account. After she released the first thirteen at midnight, she released another seven songs at 3am, titled “Midnights (3am edition)”. Seeing the perfect opportunity to tell her fans, Swift came out with her upcoming tour soon after.
Taylor wrote on Twitter about her new announcement and was able to draw in her listeners excitement with hundreds of thousands of likes. “I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!),” she explained.
Taylor also clarified that her tour will start in the US, and to pay tribute to her earlier “Reputation” tour, Swift decided to kick off the string of performances at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on March 18, 2023.
The “Reputation Stadium Tour” began in the spring of 2018 and continued on until fall with a grand total of 53 shows, with 40 taking place in North America. It was her most successful tour up to date and it is expected to be knocked out by her approaching “Eras” tour.
To say the least, Swift has had a successful career from the start. She has released nine total albums, as well as numerous specials and singles. She has also been seen re-recording previous albums in an attempt to be able to hold ownership of her songs, which has proven to work well. Along with her successes, Taylor’s past has consisted of many friendships, awards and mishaps. As of today, according to the app, Taylor has a little over 82 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, along with 11 Grammys with her first win in 2010 when she was only 20 years old, further proving her passion and determination in the industry.
Swift’s fanbase has scrambled to find tickets for themselves to see the said icon in person. Although they are not yet officially out to the public, you can register for presale at Ticketmaster. Presale will start November 15 and end on November 17. Due to the skyrocketing demand for tickets though, not everyone who registered will be able to get their passes.
To combat the exclusivity of the tickets, Taylor added 17 new dates to the tour since she released the initial idea. This addition to the tour also pronounced it as Swift’s largest U.S. Tour to date. “Taylor Swift announced Friday morning that she has added 17 additional dates to her ‘Eras Tour’ of U.S. stadiums, bringing the total number of gigs to 52. That amended number makes it her biggest tour to date, and one that could easily break her own record for a gross in North America,” says a recent article on variety.com about Taylor’s showcase. The change was very subtle with an amended flier with the new show dates on it.
With her ever growing popularity, the ticket prices have the possibility to expand almost up to three times the original set price. General admission ticket costs will start from 49 dollars but depending on your seat can fluctuate (up to 449 dollars). For example, if you are closer to the stage, your ticket will cost significantly more than if you are farther away from the stage. VIP passes start at 199 dollars and will do the same depending on your package.
Swift’s altered show times include many different areas ranging from Los Angeles, California all the way to Foxburrow, Massachusetts.
Across the board, Taylor has had an everlasting and positive impact on people around the world and, hopefully, will continue to do so. If you haven’t already, go register for tickets for a show in your area because it is seen that they will sell out in record times. For the
Swifties across the nation, get ready, because the “Eras” tour is set up to be one of the best and most successful showcases in Taylor’s career history.
