Each sports season, athletes give their sport their all in order to lead their team to success. For the fall sports season, some athletes stand out amongst the rest of their team due to their constant effort and dedication. Here are some of the top athletes this year from Hudson’s fall sports: Field Hockey, Football, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Cheer, Boys Cross Country, Girls Cross Country, Girls Tennis, Boys Golf and Girls Golf.
Field Hockey: Sofia Boyle (Sr.)
15 is fierce on the field, continuing her athletic career at Frostburg University.
How do you manage your time?
I make “To-Do” lists and prioritize what’s most important.
Favorite team to play every year?
I love playing our rivals Shaker Heights every year.
Pre-game rituals?
I have to wear bubble braids in my hair and listen to Dancin’ by Aaron Smith (KRONO Remix).
Football: Ian Ludewig (Sr.)
On Friday nights, we watch record-breaking senior captain Ian Ludewig rush the field.
How do you manage your time?
Using my study Hall
What do you look forward to the most each season?
Just playing with my friends and bonding with the team

Girls Soccer: Abby Filipovitz (Fr.)
Starting freshman Abby Filipovitz is proving to be a powerhouse for the Lady Explorers soccer team.
How do you manage your time?
Making sure I get my work done right when I get home from soccer. I also try to get a lot done in study hall .
Teammate that helps you get through practice?
Everyone is so nice, and I love them all. Everyone makes me laugh and it is so much fun!
Pre-game rituals?
Making sure I put the same shin guard on the same side as I did last game. I also eat the same snack bar right before I play and try to wear the same pair of cleats as long as I can get them to last.
Boys Soccer: Sam Robledo (Jr.)
One of boys soccer’s leading scorers Sam Robledo kicks off the school year with a tight 3-3 record.
What do you look forward to most each season?
District finals, just playoffs

Favorite team to play every year?
The rivalry between Hudson and Stow is so fun to watch because the two student sections get really into the game and it’s so much fun celebrating when we win
What do you look forward to most each year?
Bonding with my team every season. It’s so fun to cheer with people that I know well because it turns into a party.

If it’s an away game, dance and sing on the bus with Jane.
Boys Cross Country: Matthew Banko (Sr.)
Energetic and involved Matthew Banko closes his senior season with his love for cross country and the boys.
How do you manage your time?
With an extraordinarily detailed planner. I use different colored pens to help emphasize and outline the various meticulous activities of my day.

Pre-meet ritual?
All the seniors get together and coat sophomore Bradley Shuster from head to toe in baby oil, and then set him loose on the course.
Girls Cross Country: Ruby Jacops
A love for running took former Hudson field hockey player Ruby Jacobs from the field to leading the pack on Saturday mornings.
What do you look forward to most each season?
Not just seeing myself but also my teammates grow as runners. I know our progression will lead us to hopefully qualify for states.

Any pre-meet rituals?
Drinking Beet Juice and my Cola flavored Zevia because I honestly think the two of those things are what make me fast.
Girls Tennis: Mallory Hannan (Jr.)
Mallory Hannan competes every fall for the Girls Tennis team.
Favorite team to play every year?
Walsh because the Hudson tennis girls are good friends with them and we have a fun, competitive time playing against each other.
What do you look forward to most each season?
What I look forward to most each year is bonding with the team. Every year the team includes different players, and it’s always fun to get to know one another and spend time together outside of school.

Sophomore Sam Schmitt swings into this school year with the Boys Golf team.

The Country Club at Pepper Pike
What do you look forward to most each season?
The van rides and team dinners

I usually sit down for a few minutes to just clear my mind so I am not distracted while playing.

Junior year postseason Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks runs
