A.I. (Artificial intelligence) has been one of the most controversial technological advances that have been talked about during 2022, and now continuing in 2023. People have been rooting for A.I. since the first computers were made. People want the future, but consequences will always arise when shortcuts are taken to get what the people want. A.I. is new and dangerous, with many errors that have been seen to come up within the process of A.I.’s arrival. The biggest problems of advancement, people out of jobs, weaponization and personal security, haven’t been solved within the community of people who want the advancement to happen now.
A.I. itself is a topic that has intrigued many people in their own perspectives on A.I.’s advancement in society. Whether it be for home protection, better schools, or just overall a better environment for the world. The downsides of A.I. has been known to be dangerous, even with the companies saying it’s safe. A.I. shouldn’t advance further for the sake of the human race being struck behind the advancements that may occur. In a sense, it’s like being behind in a project after missing a few weeks. They will never be able to be at the same level or pace as the class if someone misses the weeks the whole project is done. Concerning A.I. and humans, humans will never be able to be caught up with the existence of A.I. continuing on in the future.
The blue-collar class has been known to be a stressful and time-consuming lifestyle, though it is what life will usually and mostly end with, people still want the “easy way out” of life altogether. Within the A.I. supporter community, members of the community find machines or “Automated Jobs” to be successful to exist in a world without work. Jobs will always need a human on standby, in the world that is overrun by humans, but recently updated and modern times have seen the world have more machinery, robots, and A.I. in the industry/working world. This is a major problem for the economy and production in the world; it takes away working jobs from many people that can work or are looking for work. Though this can be controversial, making working life even easier after the pandemic will only keep the economic status of the world at the same level as it was before. Depending on A.I. advancement in society, humans will never thrive in the way they are now. Earning a job is one-way; people have Dopamine sparks in their life, but taking away a job they earned and worked/went to college for, only disregards someone’s past for something of the future. It’s dehumanizing for A.I. to be supported in a world of mainly humans keeping the world a-foot.
Since the early days of advancement in technology, people have protected themselves from threats, animals and other people for self-reassurance. However, numerous times people have suggested that if sheets of metal with a brain were to be on a battlefield with humans, would the nation at stake win? Another thing to recall is the advancing power of weapons in this day and age. With time, many countries have protected themselves with weapons or newly updated technology that can crush anyone in their way. A multitude of problems could arise from what was once only a weapon to now full “realistic” A.I. molds of humans fighting on the battlefield. Would this not only spark controversy of unfair war? Could this be the next weaponry that every country will have? Is this advancement even possible?
Invasion of privacy has been a problem recently, whether it be credit card fraud or identity fraud, people have always found ways to sneak into someone’s life. Advancements in society have been seen to be a way to “spy” on their consumers. Such as the recent hacking of Ring doorbell cameras, security cameras are seen to be inside homes, baby monitors, and even laptops. The new concern with upcoming technology has always been a thought in the back of our minds, nor has it ever been a “threat”, until now. The latest technology has been seen to be easily hacked or bypassed by people, to spy by either audio or video surveillance.
In further discussion, technology has advanced for old and young members of society. It’s not clear how far technology will be in years to come, but it’s sure that it will be even more dangerous as it is now. Having society suffer, only for the good of “all,” is not a way to persuade members to allow this unknown, advanced technology into society.
