Beyoncé has won 32 Grammy awards, a record-breaking achievement. Last year, in 2022, she released the album “RENAISSANCE,” in which she toured this last summer. Here’s a review of all 16 tracks, from least favorite to the best of the best.
- CUFF IT
This is the most popular song, yet it’s at the bottom of the list. The reason why is that it isn’t what I would listen to in my free time. It’s a fun song though as the beat is something to dance and move to. It is genuinely a good song and I would 100% recommend it!
- PLASTIC OFF THE SOFA
Her voice is phenomenal in this. It’s soft and delicate sounding, whispering her songs. It’s a love song, meant to comfort the listener, while keeping it entertaining. It’s encouraging the listener to be themselves and keep doing what they are doing, because it’s working. It sounds a lot like Solange’s work, from her album “A Seat at the Table.”
- VIRGO’S GROOVE
The groove of virgo is quite groovy. It’s a long song and the synths make it interesting. It’s not the best, but it is definitely not the worst. This is also a popular track among Beyhives. Like the rest of the album, it is very easy to dance to, and exciting to listen to.
- ALL UP IN YOUR MIND
First of all, Beyoncé’s singing is great. The bass is enticing and draws the audience into the melody. It builds at the end and greets you into another song on the album, “AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM.”
- HEATED
This song starts the conclusion of RENAISSANCE, it has echoes of past songs in the background. It’s a good song, with good beats. At the end, she raps amazingly and it makes you want to vibe.
- BREAK MY SOUL
I love the grooviness of this track. The beat would make anyone want to dance. RENAISSANCE is definitely an album made to dance to. This song shows resistance from haters, Queen Bey telling everyone that you can’t break her soul, no matter how hard you try!
- COZY
The message in this song is something that all should apply to their life. Being comfortable in your skin is important to leading a happy life. It’s surprising that this isn’t number one, which says a lot about how good RENAISSANCE is. The beat is groovy and very dance-able. Be proud and happy in your own body and skin!
- AMERICA HAS A PROBLEM
This song is one of the best, and is perfectly suited for the third-to-last track of RENAISSANCE. Synths are unique, and the voice is beautiful. It’s something anyone can listen to whenever, no matter their mood. The vocals in the background makes her seem like a goddess.
- I’M THAT GIRL
The beat of this song is astonishing. This is the perfect introduction to the album, building suspense and sending chills down your spine. This track truly gives you a hand while immersing yourself into this album. It adds to the renaissance idea of this album, like it’s the introduction to the best yet, and more is coming. The reason why it is low on the list is because it’s short and not many people would listen to it in their freetime.
- SUMMER RENAISSANCE
This track leaves you waiting for whatever comes next from Beyoncé. Calling for applause, it’s the perfect outro and leaves you happy.
- THIQUE
The bass in THIQUE is outstanding. It’s totally one of the best in the album and deserves to be recognized as such. Do what you want and love yourself.
- ALIEN SUPERSTAR
The intro to this track is unremarkable. It leads you into a hype mood, making whatever comes next even more anticipated. Like COZY, it sends a message of loving yourself. But unlike COZY, Beyoncé mainly sings about loving yourself because of how unique or different you are. To quote her, “You know, all of these things we do in a different, unique, specific way, that is personally ours.”
- ENERGY
This song gives you the energy of your life. The instrumental is insane, the backup vocals hype you up like nothing else. 10/10!
- CHURCH GIRL
This song has a lot of meaning that I won’t try to understand, but what I do know is that this song slaps hard. The backup vocals add to the church effect, and throws you for a whiplash when she starts rapping about stuff that’s not about church. 9/10 shock value, 10/10 instrumentals, 10/10 lyrics.
- PURE/HONEY
Perfect to jump and down to, it’s the song for a DJ to play. Bass is loud, rap is amazing. The second part of the song consists of singing and up-beat instrumentals, it’s the perfect middle of mood.
- MOVE
Since the first time I’ve heard this song, it has been my favorite. The demand of “Move out the way” fuels the confidence in many to go throughout the day.
RENAISSANCE is 100% the best Beyoncé has released yet, and I’m sure her music can only improve. Overall, this album is a solid 8.5/10 and you should listen to it, song by song.
