Running is a relevant sport that most people do to relieve stress, get outdoors and improve one’s health. At Hudson High School, they offer an opportunity to run indoor track. If you love running outdoors, then you’re bound to love indoor track as well.
The runners on the indoor team are unbelievable. If you are a part of the girls short distance team you are going to be coached by Jeffery Hildebrand who is also an amazing teacher at Hudson Middle School and is an assistant coach for HHS football. The girls long distance coach is Hunter Heaten. They both love working with the girls to better themselves in the sport and push them to achieve their desired goals.
For the boys, Leo Doty, a former marine soldier and teacher at HHS, coaches the boys team. He makes sure the boys are in shape and ready for the meets. Mark McConnell coaches the long distance boys. He strives for the best results for the boys, because if anyone believes in them the most, it’s him.
On January 31st, the boys and girls blew their track meet out of the water. Starting off with the boys, the 4×800 was ran by Ryder Kessick, Ben Hoffman, Crew McDaniel and Tyler Ginther. They placed fourth overall in all of Ohio. Their overall time was 4:17. Impressive is an understatement. The boys also ran well in many other events, like the two mile/3200. Kessick ran a 9:49 and won first place in this event. McDaniel ran the mile with a 4:20 and won second place overall.
Then, the girls had amazing relays and individual events like the 200, which was run by junior Lauren Brownley. She ended up in sixth place with a time of 27.95 seconds. Senior Brooke Iuston also ran the 200 and got fifth place with a time of 27.77 seconds. Lastly, Sajel Bhatia, Madilyn Forst, Brooke Iuston and Lauren Brownley ran the 4×200. They took third place with a time of 1:52. Overall, the team showed that their hard work and determination truly does pay off.
The indoor track session is coming to an end but don’t count them out yet. They still have their All-Star meet to compete at and other achievements down the road, considering outdoor track is coming up as well.The team has shown incredible efforts in their season, we have no doubt that they will shine greatly in their upcoming meets, district finals, and upcoming season.
