Swag Surfin’ – Fast Life Yungstaz
How do you balance time between your sport and school?
It can be hard at times to balance two practices a day along with school work. Usually I’m at practices from 3-6:30 (soccer 3-4:45 and football 5-6:30) after school. After showering and eating, I usually start my homework at around 7:30 so I can get everything done. I’m having fun at my practices so I don’t really feel like I need down time before jumping into my homework.

What’s your go-to hype song?

A lot of the girls on the team put in time over the summer between practices and tournaments so we are ready for the high school season. I play in NOPGA (Northern Ohio Pro Golfers Association) summer tournaments to get my game ready for the first high school tournament. During the school year, we are pulled out of school for tournaments, so we have to stay on top of homework and golf.

Who helps you the most during practice?
I’d have to say Brad (Schuster). Whenever we have a super hard workout and I start falling off the pace it’s always Brad telling me to push through it and get back up to the group.

Sienna Pinson is an inspiration on the girls cross country team. As a team captain, her dedication is evident and she always has a smile on her face.

Being nice goes a long way and we interact with so many little girls and the cheerleaders from other teams and coaches that we always need to set a good example and make sure we’re representing our school and team well.
What’s your go to hype song?
I don’t have a personal one but the team does. Last year the seniors introduced the song “Get Low” by Lil John (and others) to the new sophomores that made varsity. Every time we went to an away game or just at practice, this song was a must and we were trying to keep the tradition of “Get Low” alive, because it’s the best hype song with so many memories attached to it.
How does performing in front of the student body affect your game? Does it make you more excited, or nervous?
Honestly, this is my second year on varsity and I still get nervous cheering on Friday nights. But I always think a little bit of nerves are good (I mostly just get nervous about tumbling) but I also get really excited because I love cheering and having fun interacting with the band and student sections.
