Konspiracies with Katie: The Denver Airport

Blucifer, the 32 ft blue mustang located outside the Denver Airport, is a metaphor depicting the end of times in the New Testament.

Built in 1995 the Denver International Airport (DIA) has had multiple conspiracies surrounding the airport for years. Many local Denver citizens have theorized about the secret tunnels, nazi secret societies, and artwork that predicts the end of the world. Many have agreed that these conspiracy theories are so big because the CEO, Kim Day, even played into the theories. “We decided a few years ago that rather than fight all of this and try and convince everybody there’s nothing really going on, let’s have some fun with it.” What are the conspiracy theories that revolve around the DIA?

The theories surrounding who built the airport are numerous, however the most frequent, persistent theory is that the New World Order built the airport. It’s believed that the “Order” has ties to nazism. Many have said that the runways resemble swastikas, although the symbol is not truly there unless you truly look for it. The airport was dedicated to The New World Airport Commission for building it, which added more connection to the theories about the New World Order. However, according to the DIA’s website the commission is not a real organization. People have noted “strange” markings around the airport, however they are actually references to the Navajo language.

The building of the airport has created a swarm of theories and conversation, but the giant horse outside of the building has sparked theories too. The 32 foot tall blue mustang named Blucifer, by the artist Luis Jiménez. The horse has glowing red eyes which have been believed to be connected to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The horsemen is a metaphor depicting the end of times in the New Testament. It describes conquest, war, hunger, and death. The artist later said that the red eyes are honoring the wild spirit of the wild West. However the artist was killed before the statue was even finished. He was killed when a piece of the horse fell on him and severed an artery which eventually killed him. After this event people started to make theories about the dark “spirits” of the horse. Mainly though it is simply a giant horse made for no true purpose.

Whenever the Denver Airport is brought up the underground tunnels are discussed frequently. Although there are tunnels and a train that runs from different parts of the airport, the reason for these tunnels has brought conspiracy from the people. The idea of the airport also housing bunkers built by the Lizard people or aliens, that would serve as a safe place for the elite when the end of the world ends. Even though the tunnels or bunkers have never been confirmed to be a safe haven for aliens, there is an underground baggage claim, so be careful when traveling with valuable luggage.

If you have ever been to the Denver airport you would notice the multiple strange murals. The main two that feed the theorists are located by the baggage claims and tell different stories which travelers have taken to interpret. The first mural is called, “In Peace and Harmony with Nature” and the second “Children of the World Dream of Peace” both represent different aspects including environmental destruction, environmental healing, and war and peace. Both were made by the artist Tanguma.

The mural “In Peace and Harmony with Nature” depicts burning trees, animals in glass cages, a girl lying in a coffin, and young people fleeing the scene crying. However, the second section of the painting shows multiple children and animals gathered around a “futuristic” plant. The main conspiracy surrounding this mural is that a mass extinction is going to happen and the airport knows and is a safe place for the elite of the world.

The second mural “Children of the World Dream of Peace.” In the first section a gas masked soldier causes chaos with weapons. There are refugees marching to the distance, a child hiding holding a teddy bear, a dead child in a person’s arms and ruined buildings. However the second section of the mural juxtaposes the first. Painted is a celebration of many young people from different countries. The soldier from the first section is now on the ground seemingly dead. Both murals have multiple themes of genocide, death and destruction. These themes have coincided with the theory of the end of the world. Some think that there are Nazi imagery linked to the murals. However the D.I.A. have come out and said that the murals are supposed to depict world peace and a healthy environment.

In all the Denver International Airport is filled with conspiracies, ranging from aliens to secret bunkers. Blucifer the giant blue mustang and gargoyles to watch over your luggage at the baggage claim. If these theories are true the only people that would know would be the top elite of the New World Order. If you have a chance to travel to the D.I.A. make sure to look for all the strange objects and murals around the airport.
