It’s that time of the year for the beloved Puerto Rico trip. AP and Spanish 4 students had the opportunity to sign up for a six day trip to Puerto Rico to use their Spanish skills with the locals. The chaperones were Senora Wiehe, Senora Rollyson, Madame Schiele and Senor Carbaugh.

The trip has limited spots and always falls on the week of President day. The students left for Puerto Rico at 4 a.m on Wednesday the 12. They had two connecting flights to arrive at the destination.
On day one they arrived and went straight to the store to buy snacks for their rooms and any other necessities. After that they got the chance to walk around San Juan and explore for themselves. They visited many murals with beautiful designs and an old fort. The last item on the agenda for the night was going to the beach at night and getting ice cream. Senor Carbaugh and Senora Wiehe attempted to do handstands on the beach, but unfortunately that backfired a little bit.

Day two included going zip lining. The group had the best time doing the zip lines. They saw the prettiest views of Puerto Rico’s nature. They then went and saw churches and got some free time to explore the island as well.
Boat day, aka day three, was a long fun day. The students got to spend the day on a boat that eventually pulled up to a beach. They were able to snorkel, go on paddle boards and jump/flip off of the boat. They saw many turtles and collected sand dollars from the beach.
On day four, Alberto, their tour guide, took them to sightseeing locations of old buildings and waterfalls. They went to the beach and then went to a bioluminescent bay in kayaks. It was a day well spent.
On day five the students went hiking to see the views. They had to wear helmets and carry flashlights with then for safety.

Sadly the last day came and it was time to travel home. But first they had a little time to walk around and “meg” each other, especially meg Senor Carbaugh. Samantha Rosenberg and Chloe Bigham would try and kick an orange between Senor Carbaugh feet and pretend like it was a goal all trip. It was an ongoing competition. Now it was time to head to the airport and get on their first flight, which was at 3:55 p.m. They didn’t end up getting home until midnight because of the second flight. The best trip had come to an end.
